The weekend saw the Blair Mini teams playing Saturday & Sunday with some great games and results, below are a couple of the write ups enjoy!
North Kent League side this week had a away fixture to Gravesham Borough, Blair had Liam Stephenson missing through illness & Started the Game with Alfie Page between the sticks, a back line of Thomas Planson & Kirean Robertson, TJ Weaver occupied the CM role with Jack Trice & Bradley Norgate playing out wide which left Joe Poll as centre forward & Ethan Williams 1st substitute.
Graveshams pitch was a big pitch & our Blair boys started the game slow which was the case for both sides, The 1st half was limited to very few chances & despite the pitch size Blair stuck to their passing football, throughout the whole game there wasn't a lot between the sides with Gravesham having a more direct style running at the Blair defence. Thomas Planson scored a wonderful strike from outside the box, Ethan Williams found the net direct from a corner & Kirean Robertson found the very bottom corner in the last couple minutes of the game after a mazy run which proved to be the goal to get the boys the result after coming from behind.
Week five of the mini season saw Lightning travel away to Vinters Park looking to maintain their 100% start to the season.
In bright conditions on a decent footballing pitch, two early goals from Lewis Inkpen and Harrison Liddle kept The sides on level terms while the Blair lads found their rhythm.
The first half then turned into a goal fest with Lewis adding two to complete a hat trick, Leo Pickett, Timi and Josh Carter all on the scoresheet. Despite a missed penalty, Blair were in full control.
The second half allowed all of the players a taste of different positions. Vinters managed the first goal of the second half but strikes from Liam Hughes and Dylan Simpson restored Blair’s confidence before an eight minute hat trick for Josh “Blaze” Carter rounded off a comfortable morning for the reds.
Growing in confidence and putting on a superb performance, Timi was named MOTM by the impressive Blair away support.
This sees the end of an excellent run of games for loanee Leo Pickett who’s two goals and one MOTM in four appearances are a mark of his successful time with the group.
In other fantastic news, we welcome Callum Spittle back to training after he had his appendix removed and missed the first 5 games of the season.
Welcome back Callum!!
Thanks again to Terry & Ben on some enjoyable match reports, you can see Ben and his boys this Saturday at Star Meadow Ground when they are mascots for the 1st team who welcome Crowborough AFC. Good Luck to all #uptheBlair #foundationsareforever
